Scholarship – Requirements

To be considered, applicants will be required to submit the following components:
  • Grade 11 Transcript
  • Grade 12 Mid-term Transcript (if available)
  • University Acceptance Letter
  • Notice of Assessment, issued by the CRA, for the most recent tax year.
  • Essay (500-650 words only. You will be disqualified if your personal statement goes over)
  • Resume (2 pages only. You will be disqualified if your resumé goes over)
  • 2 signed Recommendation Letters on official letterhead
  • All components must be scanned into ONE pdf file, and must be uploaded with the Application form. Applicants can access a scanner at any Ontario library, or your high school.  Please contact your guidance counsellor if you require assistance. Applications are due March 24, 2017.  Only applications that are fully complete will be considered. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible! This will ensure a more adequate review of your application, and will prevent you from experiencing errors in uploading your file. Any offer of a scholarship is conditional upon minimum academic requirements being confirmed.
    Financial Need
    A copy of your family’s Notice of Assessment from the CRA is required. The Foundation must be able to identify your family’s annual income. If you are applying for OSAP, please include the OSAP Estimate.
    University Acceptance Letter
    Conditional or unconditional, from an eligible post-secondary institution. The University Acceptance Letter does not necessarily have to be the institution you plan to attend (i.e., It is not your first choice). If you have not yet received a University Acceptance Letter, please indicate this on your application form.
    Transcript
    An official Grade 11 transcript is required. If a Grade 12 mid-term transcript is available, please provide. Print screens are accepted. Verification of Grade 12 minimum averages will be made at the end of the school year, if you are selected as a Scholarship Winner.
    Essay (Personal Statement)
    This personal statement should identify your general interests, activities, and aspirations. The essay should address why you wish to persue a particular course of study, and highlight a vision for your future career. The essay must be between 500-650 words, Font “Calibre”, Font Size 12, Spacing 1.5.
    Resumé (no more than 2 pages)

    A resume should include your work experience, volunteer work, personal references and any special skills which would be considered an asset.

    Recommendation Letters
    You will be required to submit the names and contact details of two references. These individuals must provide a letter of recommendation, and testify to your scholastic achievements and potential. The two letters are to be included within your pdf file, and attached alongside your Application Form.
    Key Dates
    Applications are due March 24, 2017.
    The scholarship will be presented at the Centennial Gala, to be held on Saturday, April 23, 2017.
