COINS OF SIKHS

Booklet

Discover the unique stories told with symbols on each coin. One romantic story tells the tale of a Sikh ruler who was in love with a Muslim woman, who he could not marry.  His love became commemorated in a coin struck with a butterfly to honour her. Another common symbol is of the leaf, which was the symbol of fertility or abundance, and speaks to the Sikh reverence for trees.
